Silence
Silence
The veil behind which secrets hide
It cloaks the truth and muffles lies
It’s the absence of laughter
A shroud for mourning and death
That which is a universal guise
A warrior’s surreptitious lie.
It’s feared by the brave and the meek
Cold as death; dark and bleak
The quiet is deafening; a fear unto itself
An absolute truth, with the power to break ties
In which the only thing that can be heard
Is a heart beating, strong and wise.
Millions of thoughts racing through one’s head
Speaking stifled; freedom suppressed
Such a fickle, formidable creature
For some a friend, for others a foe
For silence is a gentle absence
A trial against a mind, fighting for balance.
Silence can be a beautiful painting
A mix of colors, a phrase untainting
Silence seems scary, almost daunting
But, they say silence can be golden
It can teach you when to speak
When to be yourself, break out of the clique.
Silence is a place where creativity is bred
Silence is a place where you carefully tread
Silence can be a place full of answers
Silence can be a source of great strength.
For silence is nothing more than a belief
Complex, intricate, and deep.
